About 80 Ghanaian nationals who have been charged and jailed in the United Kingdom for various crimes are reported to be transferred back to their motherland, Ghana to continue with their sentences.
This was revealed by the Chief Executive Officer of Crime Check Foundation, Ibrahim. According to him, the United Kingdom plans on transferring eighty Ghanaian prisoners back into their country for them to continue with their sentences.
In a video sighted on social media. he stated that the Crme Check Foundation along with some Ghanaian institutions has had a meeting with the United Kingdom Justice Ministry to discuss their intension to carry out this operation as soon as possible.
He said that the group claimed to have 80 Ghanaian nationals incarcerated in the UK at the moment, and they would like them sent home to serve out their terms.
Ibrahim revealed that a 2015 arrangement permitted British nationals serving sentences in Ghana to be sent to the UK to complete their terms, and the UK is currently planning to do the same.
However, he also raised concerns about the poor conditions of the prisons in Ghana and also how prisoners are suffocating in Ghanaian prisons.
