Professional Ghanaian choreographer and dancer, Roland Nyarko, popularly known as Champion Rolie has opened up about his life and other passions before he ventured into dancing.
Speaking in an interview on the Delay Show with Deloris Frimpong Manso, Champion Rolie stated that his passion for dancing grew after he completed his high school education and was waiting for his results to further at the tertiary level.
He stated that he always had the passion to become a professional footballer but the dream and the passion died after he was restricted by his father to show up for trials when he was needed. He added that he had to accept that his dreams to become a footballer will never materialize in real life, hence he decided to give up on the dream.
Dancing, however, become the newest passion he wanted to pursue and he always found joy and excitement whenever he sees other people dancing. He began taking dance classes to perfect his moves and also advance in the field.
He stated that he joined Incredible Zigi and Mr. Drew’s dance classes but the group was dissolved so he had to join that of Dancegod Lloyd which he enjoyed the journey. He further stated that he was part of the first batch of the DWP Dance Academy and still joins the group even after Dancegod Lloyd exited.
Champiom Rolie said that even though he has graduated from the university and has his degree like his father always wanted for him, he had to lay down his certificate and pursue his passion.
